Adopting an animal is a legal process in which the ownership of an animal is transferred from Kalamazoo County Animal Services to an individual or a rescue agency. All available animals which go unclaimed by an owner may be adopted.
- Find a pet you want to adopt: Our animals are advertised all over. We are on WWMT News 3 Wednesdays. We also advertise on PetFinder. The best way to look however is to just come in. Once here, get the animal out of its cage, see how it interacts with you and make your decisions.
- Apply for the animal: We will need your driver's license, and you will be required to fill out an application at our office.
- Pay and Take Home: On the day the animal you have applied for becomes available, you may pay anytime between 8:00am to 11:00am and take it home as determined at the time of payment.
