The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners regularly seeks area residents interested in serving on boards and commissions. Currently, applicants are being sought for the following boards and commissions:


Parks and Recreation Commission

The Parks and Recreation Commission meets the first Thursday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at the County Center Building. The Parks Commission reviews matters dealing with all Kalamazoo County Government Parks. Appointments are made for three-year terms of office. Contact: David Rachowicz at 383-8778

Kalamazoo County Transportation Authority - (Official Site)

The purpose of the Kalamazoo County Transportation Authority is to plan, promote, finance, acquire, improve, enlarge, extend, own, construct, operate, maintain, replace, and contract for public transportation service by means of one or more public transportation systems and public transportation facilities within the jurisdictional boundaries of the County of Kalamazoo. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m (starting times can vary) at the County Administration Building. Contact: Dale Hein at 384-8114

Older Adult Services Advisory Council

The Older Adult Services Advisory Council's primary function is to act in an advisory capacity to the County Board of Commissioners through the Human Services Department related to the provision of services to the senior population of the Kalamazoo community. Membership requirements state that half the members must be age 60 or over, and other members will represent a nutrition provider, social service provider, a local elected official and general public. Appointments are made for three-year terms of office. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Nazareth Complex. Contact: Judy Sivak 373-5153
