Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services is currently offering the meningitis vaccine Menactra. Those eligible for this vaccine include:
Adolescents aged 11-18
Adolescents entering high school
College freshmen living in dormitories
Adolescents with high risk health conditions
Adolescents traveling to parts of the world where this disease is common
If you have insurance, you must call your insurance company to verify that you have coverage for Menactra. If your insurance covers Menactra, please call your doctor for availability or you may receive the vaccine at our clinic at a cost of $99.50. For private insurance billing information CLICK HERE.
The meningitis vaccine is also available through the Vaccine For Children (VFC) program at a reduced cost. The VFC program covers children 18 and younger who are:
Uninsured
Medicaid-eligible
Native Alaskan
American Indian
Insured but not covered for vaccinations
