County-wide public transportation for Kalamazoo County residents, specializing in service to seniors 60+ and those with physical and mental challenges. Fees based on income guidelines. Lift-equipped vehicles available. Curb-to-curb service.
Kalamazoo Metro Transit (269) 337-8222
Wheelchair lifts are available on all fixed route buses. Seniors and persons with a disability are eligible for a discounted fare of 55 cents between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. upon showing a Medicare card or ADA certification. Discount passes are available.

Persons of ages may request an application to be ADA certified for this service if a disability prevents use of Metro Transit. Once certified, reservations may be made up to four days in advance. Curb to curb service. Van will travel with 3/4 mile of fixed bus routes. Not available to Portage residents south of Romence Road. Fee charged.

Transportation (not handicapped accessible) is available for Portage seniors for most senior center activities, shopping, nursing home visits and doctor appointments on a limited basis. Reservations should be made by 5:00 p.m. the day before. Donation requested.

Volunteers take older adults to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and to some other appointments. Volunteers stay with clients to assist and support as needed. Expect a waiting period before volunteers are matched with clients.

Volunteers provide escorted rides in their own vehicles for medical appointments Monday through Thursday. Non-medical rides are provided on Wednesday and Thursday. Volunteers stay with the client to assist as needed. Call Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. until noon, as soon as appointment is known. Donation requested.

Transportation for adults 60+ in the Fulton, Scotts, Schoolcraft, Vicksburg area on Mondays for medical appointments, shopping, banking, hairdresser, hospital or nursing home visitation. Reservations should be made Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for the following week. Lift-equipped van available. Donation requested.
