Ninth Judicial Circuit Court
Family Law Assistance Clinic
The Family Law Assistance Clinic is a joint effort of the 9th Circuit Court and the Kalamazoo County Bar Association to meet the needs of individuals who represent themselves in domestic matters. The clinic began providing services in May 2010 at the Ninth Circuit Court Family Division at the Gull Road Courthouse.
The Family Law Assistance Clinic is staffed by volunteer family law attorneys who are available the first, third and fourth Wednesdays of each month to assist and answer questions regarding family law matters. No appointment is necessary and clients are seen on a first come first served basis for half-hour time slots from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
Some of the issues discussed at the clinic include: family issues, divorce, establishing visitation, custody, personal protection matters, child support, parenting time and clarification of various forms used by the court. The attorneys are often able to assist at the half-hour meeting or may indicate that the matter would be best handled by retaining an attorney because of complicated issues.
