WELCOME TO THE KALAMAZOO COUNTY
The Probate Court
The Constitution of Michigan provides that "The jurisdiction, powers and duties of the Probate
Court and the Judges thereof shall be provided by law." The legislature, through the enactment
of various statutes, has defined the specific work of the Probate Court.
Since the Probate Court receives many inquiries for the "probation department", it is worth noting
that the Probate Court has NOTHING TO DO WITH PROBATION. Please call Adult Probation -
Circuit Court (269-383-8972), District Court Probation (269-384-8241) or Juvenile Probation -
Family Division (269-385-6000) for those respective services.
