Monitoring the health status of the population is a core function of the public health system. The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services has established this web site to provide our community and interested others with data and reports that describe the health status of Kalamazoo County residents.

The Kalamazoo County Health Surveillance Data Book's contents are listed below. Many sections are being updated with current data and will be noted as *New* once these updates are complete. Click on a section to access another table of contents within each available section.

Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services is currently working to complete the 2016 – 2019 Community Health Assessment. This assessment will bring together community level data and community resident feedback and will then be used to inform the development of a Community Health Improvement Plan and Department Strategic Plan. KCHCS strives to support a community that improves the physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being of all County Residents. The sections found in the Health Surveillance Data Book will be reviewed and updated as a part of this work as well, becoming a part of the Community Health Assessment.
