Health and Community Services Department

Older Adult Services Division

Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) are a nationwide network of entities that promote the health and independence of older adults. AAA’s serve as a one-stop shop with expertise on aging and long-term care. AAAs were created 40 years ago by the federal Older Americans Act (OAA) with the mission of creating a system of home and community-based services to maximize the independence and dignity of older adults and provide alternatives to long-term care facilities.

The Area Agency on Aging Region 3A serves Kalamazoo County and is housed within Kalamazoo County Government’s Health and Community Services, Older Adult Services Division. The Area Agency on Aging Region 3A also administers the Kalamazoo County Senior Millage.
