The transportation office makes sure those children receiving transportation for Head Start programs are placed on the proper routes, centers, and buses.
We are always looking for permanent Vehicle Operators (must possess a Commercial Drivers License and have a good driving record). Also looking for substitutes and permanent/substitute bus riders.
Head Start not only works with the Head Start child, but also with the family as a whole unit. We provide social services, education/employment, literacy and health services.

Comprehensive programs delivering a multitude of services to help meet the many needs of economically disadvantaged children and their families. All families receive a variety of learning experiences encouraging intellectual, social and emotional growth. Children participate in indoor/outdoor instruction and are introduced to concepts to enhance pre-readiness skills prior to kindergarten; encouraged to express their feelings and to develop self-confidence and the ability to get along with others.

No.
What areas of the County does Head Start serve?
We cover all of Kalamazoo County. There are 24 classrooms in 12 different sites. We try to place the child as close to his/her community as possible.
What curriculum does Head Start use?
We use the Creative Curriculum which is structured to provide learning through hands-on activities. All classrooms have an emphasis on Early Literacy Development.
