IMMUNIZATION CLINIC - HPV Vaccine
The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department is currently offering the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine. Those eligible for this vaccine include:
- Females aged 11-26
- Can be given as early as age 9
- Non-sexually active females are targeted, but the vaccine can still be given to those already sexually active.
If you have insurance, you must call your insurance company to verify that you have coverage for the HPV vaccine. If your insurance covers the HPV vaccine, please call your doctor for availability or you may visit our walk-in clinic and receive the vaccine at a cost of $131.00. The HPV vaccine is also available through the Vaccine For Children (VFC) program at a reduced cost. The VFC program covers children 18 and younger who are:
- Uninsured
- Medicaid-eligible
- Native Alaskan
- American Indian
- Insured but not covered for vaccinations
The HPV vaccine is available through our walk-in clinic. Please call in advance to confirm that vaccine is still available.
The HPV vaccine is a three dose series that protects against four major types of HPV. It provides protection against two types that cause 70% of cervical cancer and two types that cause 90% of genital warts.
HPV vaccine is not recommended during pregnancy.
