Kalamazoo River Oil Spill Information
The No-Contact Order for the Kalamazoo River remains in effect from the Kalamazoo County/Calhoun County line up to Morrow Dam in Comstock Township due to the Enbridge Oil Spill. Signs have been posted along this stretch of the river. Local health officials are monitoring the situation and warn citizens to avoid all surface water activities, including swimming, wading, fishing, and boating/canoeing. The use of the river for irrigation and watering livestock is also prohibited. These orders will likely remain in effect through Spring, 2011 when it is anticipated that the health risk will be minimized.
Please check back on this Website periodically, as we will provide updates as they become available.
