Recycling in Apartment Complexes, Condo Communities & Mobile Home Parks

Approximately half of the approximately 24,000 households living in Kalamazoo County's multiple-family complexes currently have access to outside recycling containers. One container collects newspapers, moving boxes, and other clean papers, and the another container holds bottles and cans.

On-site recycling is available to most multiple-family complexes with five or more units in the Cities of Kalamazoo (337-8215) and Portage (329-4416). In all other communities, managers or owners of multiple-family complexes have the option of privately contracting with their waste hauling company to provide on-site recycling collection containers.

In cases where a manager or owner has yet to arrange for convenient, on-site recycling collection service, residents of multiple-family complexes have the option of using a free drop-off recycling site as an alternative.
