Electronics Recycling for Households

Where can I recycle computers or televisions?

Kalamazoo County's Household Hazardous Waste Center, at 1301 Lamont Ave, Kalamazoo, now accepts and recycles old computers and TVs during regular collection hours, on an ongoing basis. Small businesses may also recycle electronics for a fee (see fee schedule below).

For FREE
Residents of Kalamazoo County (with the exception of Galesburg and Vicksburg), Berrien County, Calhoun County, Almena, Antwerp and Paw Paw townships may drop off:

  • Six computer systems* per year (includes 6 monitors & 6 CPUs plus keyboards and mice) or
  • Twelve electronic pieces such as any combination of printers, DVD players, VCRs and stereos or
  • Six televisions per year
  • Cell phones (no limit)

*Please remember to remove any confidential data from your hard drive by reformatting the drive or by physically removing the drive and smashing it with a hammer!


For a FEE
If you have additional electronics to recycle (over and above the six TVs or computer systems per year) or live in Galesburg or Vicksburg, a small fee is charged for these items.

  • CPU $2.50 each
  • Monitor (< 21" screen) $2.50 each
  • Monitor (> 21" screen) $5 each
  • Printer (desktop, inkjet) $2.50 each
  • Printer (larger office size) $5 - $25 each, depending on size/weight
  • VCR, CD or DVD player $2.50 each
  • Small Television (13" or smaller) $2.50 each
  • Medium Television (14" to 27" screen) $5 each
  • Large Television (> 27") $7.50 each
  • Stereo equipment $2.50 - $5 each, depending on size/weight
  • Fax machine $2.50 - $12.50 each, depending on size/weight
  • Miscellaneous computer parts (including mice, keyboards, hard drives, etc.) $0.15 per pound
  • Electronics from residents outside of Kalamazoo County (same fees as above - no free disposal)
  • Electronics from schools, businesses and non-profits (same fees as above - no free disposal - and by appointment only - call Cindy at 269-383-8742)

Payment is required at the time of disposal by either check or cash (checks must be written out to KCHCS - Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services). An appointment is only needed if you have ten or more items. Please call Cindy at 269-383-8742 for more details or to set up an appointment.
