The newest generation of curbside recycling trucks have only two compartments -- one for papers and one for containers. To speed collection, please keep papers separate from containers.
All curbside pickup services and most drop-off recycling sites accept:
- Newspapers & inserts
- Mail, magazines, & catalogs
- Cereal box-type cartons
- Telephone books
For curbside pickup, combine papers in paper bags or boxes. Keep papers separate from bottles and cans.
Flattened boxes
Cut down or fold large boxes to two-foot lengths.
- Milk and water jugs
- Detergent and shampoo bottles
- Syrup bottles
- Other plastic bottles marked a #1, #2, or #5 on the bottom
- Plastic tubs for margarine, yogurt, and other dairy products packaged in #5 plastic
- Metal cans and foil
- Glass jars and bottles (green, brown, and colorless)
- Drink boxes and other aseptic containers for milk and broth
- Waxy, gable-top cartons for juice and milk
Labels are OK, but please rinse out containers. Please keep containers separate from papers. For curbside pickup, combine the containers in your recycling bin or paper (not plastic) grocery bags. Please no foam, motor oil jugs, plastic bags, or pyrex.
