Recycling
Why Recycle?
For Our Environment
By reusing natural resources, you're supporting the environment upon which current and future
generations depend. For instance, recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a television for three hours!
Recycling one ton of recycled paper -- the amount that only four households or five office workers
typically recycle in one year -- saves approximately 20 trees, eliminates 60 pounds of air
pollutants, and saves enough energy to power the average home for six months.
For Your Pocketbook
It's only fair for a recycling business or household to have the option of down-sizing to a
smaller, less expensive trash container. That's why local waste
hauling companies offer a variety of sizes of commercial dumpsters and many options for
residential customers, including cart (large, mediumt, and small) and bag service.
For Our Local Economy
In Kalamazoo County alone, recycling supports hundreds of jobs and adds significant tax dollars for the community.
Kalamazoo County currently diverts an estimated 43% of its residential and commercial solid waste from landfills. Your efforts to recycle at home, at work, and at school make a difference.
Thanks for being part of the solution!
