Direct staff and overall operations of the Airport, seeking development and enterprise opportunities and maintaining compliance with FAA, TSA, and other airport related regulatory agencies. Develop and present policy/administrative recommendations to the Aeronautics Board, implement directives of the Aeronautics Board, and incorporate policy/administrative decisions of County administration. Develop and administer annual operating budget, strategic and business plans, and capital improvement initiatives. Negotiate and oversee administration of tenant and service provider contracts; assist with negotiations of employee labor agreements during the collecting bargaining process. Liaison to federal, state, and local agencies, and other County departments. Serve as Secretary to the Aeronautics Board of Trustees.
Bachelor degree in Airport Business or Public Administration with five years experience in airport operations management or administration, or comparable combination of experience education, and training. Masters degree preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of federal and state airport related regulatory requirements, and a basic understanding of typical airline operations. Must have a valid Michigan driver license and be able to attain license as an Airport Manager (MI-DOT, Bureau of Aeronautics) and certifications as an Airport Security Coordinator (TSA) and a Storm Operator (MI-DEQ).
