Operate all communications equipment, providing requested information; answer phones and receive radio transmissions from officers in the field; transmit calls for assistance or other information to officers; monitor and coordinate multi-jurisdictional frequencies and transmissions. Prioritize and distribute service calls to officers. Confirm Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) warrant information; enter or modify LEIN information as necessary. File records including conditional bonds and personal protection orders. Report communications problems, computer issues, and areas for improvement to supervisory chain-of command. Operate computer aided dispatch, and mapping software. Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED certification, with a basic understanding of criminal/civil law enforcement, and knowledge of local street maps and geography. Must have effective written and verbal communications and organizational skills, and basic computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and database data entry and retrieval. Must pass a drug screen, physical/medical examination, and thorough background check. Upon hire, must become LEIN, First Aid, CPR, and AED certified.
