Cultivate internal and external collaborations and initiatives to motivate both traditional and nontraditional public health partners to take collective action in determining the barriers to health equity and address the fundamental causes of inequity in the distribution of disease and illness in Kalamazoo County. This is done in order to comprehensively address the social determinants of health to achieve health equity for Kalamazoo County residents.
Bachelor degree in health education, social work or related field, Master’s preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years experience directing community collaborations and initiatives is required; or any comparable combination of education, experience and training. Knowledge of health inequities, social determinants of health, community capacity building, policy development, and systems work is strongly preferred. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate others to change are strongly desired. Experience conducting training needs assessments, developing training materials, and conducting training sessions desired. Ability to work independently and creatively, with strong leadership, problem solving, and time management skills with ability to coordinate diverse activities is important.
