This position works primarily inside a County Courthouse building. The position experiences long periods of sitting, standing, walking, or alternating from sitting to standing to walking. The incumbent will interact with citizens who enter the courthouse building, work primarily the shift Tuesday through Friday and has the authority to arrest. Candidates must be a citizen of the United States, 21-years of age or older, and possess a valid Michigan driver's license. Must pass a drug screen, physical/medical examination, and thorough background check. In addition, must be M.C.O.L.E.S. certified or certifiable; must be able to pass the M.C.O.L.E.S. physical fitness and reading/writing tests. Must have knowledge of security procedures and techniques. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain composure during stressful situations. Any individual with a felony conviction, a pending felony, a misdemeanor charge, a domestic violence conviction, or an outstanding warrant is ineligible for consideration for employment.
