Greenhouse, Nursery, Landscape and Turf Programs

The greenhouse, nursery, landscape and turf maintenance industries are a significant green industry in Southwest Michigan. In Kalamazoo County alone, over $ 90 million wholesale value bedding plants are produced and shipped throughout the states east of the Mississippi River. MSU Extension Horticulture Educators provide educational programs, information and materials to these industries.

Jeanne Himmelein

Jeanne has been with Michigan State University Extension since 1994. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Western Michigan University and is currently working toward a Masters Degree in Entomology from Michigan State University. Jeanne works closely with the greenhouse industry. Kalamazoo County is the largest bedding plant producer in the United States.
