Control: Control the source of the spill or release. Plug leaks or set containers up right.
Contain: Keep the spill in a small area away from groundwater or surface water.
Cleanup: All spills must be cleaned up. Do not hose the spill area. Instead sweep up dry spills and capture wet spills with absorbent material such as kitty litter or newspaper. Bag up for disposal and take the contaminated material to the Household Hazardous Waste Center.
