KALAMAZOO COUNTY AGENCIES
Kalamazoo County Environmental Health Department
The local health agency is responsible for water testing, private well and on-site sewage construction codes and permits, and other county environmental health programs such as lead abatement, surface water quality monitoring, swimming pool inspections, and wellhead protection. The Health Department maintains a groundwater database including well logs and water quality information.

Kalamazoo County Household Hazardous Waste Program
The Household Hazardous Waste Center accepts materials from all Kalamazoo County residents except
residents of the city of Galesburg. There is no charge for residents to use the center. Materials
accepted include batteries, corrosives, mercury, oil-based paint, pesticides, motor oil and solvents.
Hours: Tuesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday, noon - 6 p.m.
Second Saturday of each month 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The Conservation District personnel provide technical and educational assistance through conservation plans, well abandonment, irrigation scheduling, and pest management plans along with other activities.
