Master Gardeners Share Gardening Information

Kalamazoo, Mich.- Kalamazoo County Master Gardeners will be sharing information and ideas on gardening during the fall and winter months on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13, 2007. This special two day event will be held at Wenke’s Greenhouses at 5071 Market Street, just off Sprinkle Road, and will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. both days.

Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to answer your gardening questions during this event. In addition, demonstrations will be held both days beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing each hour through 3:00 p.m. Demonstration topics will be: Forcing Bulbs for Indoor Bloom, Bulbs in the Bottom (fall to spring containers), Pansies in Pumpkins (containers for the young), Adding Pizzazz to your Containers in Fall & Winter, Keeping Tender Plants Alive Indoors, and Growing Herbs Indoors.

Wenke’s Greenhouses will be open for business with fall annuals, perennials and gardening supplies on sale during this fundraising event. The Kalamazoo County Master Gardener Volunteer program will receive a portion of the proceeds from all sales during this event.

The Master Gardener Program is a volunteer training and leadership program offered by Michigan State University Extension. It provides research-based gardening information to the community through a network of more than 300 trained volunteers who provided nearly 10,000 hours of volunteer service to our Kalamazoo County community in 2006.
