NATIONAL 4-H WEEK

Kalamazoo County Youth Celebrate Michigan 4-H 100th Birthday During National 4-H Week

Kalamazoo, Mich.- October 5-11 is National 4-H Week and Kalamazoo County is celebrating with business and window displays around the county to commemorate 100 years of 4-H in Michigan. One thousand yard signs were also distributed for the month of October to promote awareness.

Displays can be seen at the Comstock Township Library lobby in Comstock, Lakeshore Market on Sprinkle Road, Tractor Supply Company on Gull Road, Double Features Movie Rental on East Michigan in Galesburg, and Richland Library children’s department in Richland.

Courtney Koopsen, 4-H member from the Portage 4-H Club said, “I love being in 4-H because I can be with people that enjoy the same things as I do. 4-H is going to help me in the future because I want to be a vet and 4-H teaches me a lot about how to take care of my animals.”

In Kalamazoo County, more than 535 youth and 170 volunteers participate in 4-H.
