BECOME A CITIZEN PLANNER THROUGH MSU EXTENSION SHORT COURSE

Kalamazoo, Mich.- Planning commissioners, zoning board members, and others interested in learning about facing the challenges posed by community growth and development can discover new tools and information for use in their communities by participating in Michigan State University (MSU) Extension's Citizen Planner short course Wednesdays at 6:30-9:00 p.m. starting on April 23 and running until June 4. These trainings will be held at the Charleston Township Hall, 14995 38th Street, Galesburg, MI 49053.

The seven-part program focuses on smart growth, planning ethics, planning and zoning resources, site plan reviews, boards of appeals, legalities, best practices, and running effective meetings. Citizen Planner graduates will receive a certificate upon completing the course. Following course completion, they are expected to perform a capstone project using the information they learned.

The cost to attend the Citizen Planner Program is $385 for seven sessions, or $75 for individual sessions. This includes educational materials, an expandable notebook, and refreshments.
