Fall into Gardening Conference

Kalamazoo, Mich.- On Saturday, September 13, 2008 MSU Extension will offer, “Fall into Gardening”. This educational program will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at the Van Buren Conference Center, 490 S. Paw Paw Street, Lawrence.

A variety of gardening topics will be addressed by local resources persons including Emelee Rajzer, horticulturist, farm operator and columnist. Rajzer will talk about selecting bulbs for spring color. Dave Sytsma's topic of fall lawn care addresses the most important time of year for lawns. Small engine care and maintenance is the subject of Kyle Christensen 's presentation. Find out how to fertilize your yard and garden properly with Mike Staton, MSU Extension Educator. Extend the season of your bedding plants according to Linda Whitlock. Find out how to landscape for wildfire protection with Joanne Davidhizar. Compost those fall leaves with guidance from Janean Danca. Finally, learn about home greenhouses and cold frames from MSU Extension's Horticulture AoE Educator, Jeanne Himmelein.

There is an early-bird registration fee of $60 per person when received by September 5; at the door, the fee is $70. Educational materials, breaks, lunch and door prizes are included in the registration fee.
