Fall Registration for Master Gardener Class

Kalamazoo, Mich.- Interested in becoming a Master Gardener? Want to learn more about growing plants successfully in our area? Registration is underway for the fall session of the Kalamazoo County MSU Extension Master Gardener class. Class will meet at the Health and Community Services Building in Kalamazoo, 5:00-9:00 p.m. beginning September 16 and continuing through December 9, 2007. Registrations are now being accepted and must be completed prior to September 8, 2008.

This in-depth horticultural program will cover the following topics: Plant Science, Soil Science, Integrated Pest Management, Small Fruit, Tree Fruit, Home Invading Pests, Wildlife Management, Turfgrass Management, Woody Ornamentals, Composting, Flowers, Woody Ornamentals, Vegetables and Houseplants.

There is a fee to participate in this class. To receive a registration packet, call the MSU Extension office at (269) 384-8197. Registration materials are also available online at www.msue.msu.edu/kalamazoo in the left panel under Master Gardener Volunteer Program. MSU Extension offers several partial scholarships; these are awarded based on a submitted application. Scholarship applications are included in the registration packet.
