Register Now for Master Gardener Class
Do you enjoy gardening and want to learn to do it better?
Kalamazoo County: - Want to learn more about growing plants successfully in our area? Or, are you looking for the perfect holiday gift for someone special? Registration is underway for the winter Master Gardener class in Kalamazoo County. Classes will meet in Cooper’s Glen Auditorium at The Kalamazoo Nature Center from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. weekly beginning February 11, 2009 and continuing through May 6.
The only prerequisite is an interest in gardening. This in-depth horticultural program covers these topics: Flowering Plants, Small Fruit, Tree Fruit, Lawn Care, Woody Ornamentals, Composting, Vegetables, Indoor Plants, Plant Health Care, Diagnosing Plant Problems, Home Invading Pests, Plant Science, and Soil Science.
There is a fee to of $250 to participate in this class (reference materials included). Class size is limited and registrations are on a first-come, first serve basis. To receive a registration packet, call the MSU Extension office at (269) 384-8197 or visit www.msue.msu.edu/kalamazoo then click on Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Several partial scholarships are available; applications are included in the registration packet.
This class is the first step in becoming certified as a Master Gardener. Upon completion of the class, students volunteer in the community sharing their knowledge in beautification projects. Last year, Master Gardeners donated more than 10,000 hours of their time to enhance our county.
