New County Extension Director Joins Kalamazoo County MSU Extension
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Stephen Yanni has joined Michigan State University (MSU) Extension in Kalamazoo County as the County Extension Director.
Yanni will work with the Kalamazoo staff to continue identifying educational needs and opportunities, and help to coordinate local resources and the resources of Michigan State University to address these needs and opportunities. Yanni will use his experience in administration and community development projects to support a variety of programs related to economic development, natural resources and community development.
Before joining MSUE, Yanni was vice-president for Administration at Bay Mills Community College in Brimley, Michigan. He received a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Lake Superior State University in 1986, a master’s degree in Recreation and Park Administration from Western Illinois University in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Park, Recreation, and Tourism Resources from Michigan State University in 2001.
