Kalamazoo County Fair Royalty Selected
Kalamazoo, Mich.- The Kalamazoo County Fair and Kalamazoo County 4-H Youth Programs are pleased to announce the 2009 Kalamazoo County Fair King and Queen who will preside over this year's Kalamazoo County Fair, August 10-15.
Congratulations to Paul Bartholomew and Kaitlyn Barrett on being selected to represent 4-H this year as the 2009 Kalamazoo County Fair King and Queen. Paul is a member of the Scotts Busy Youth 4-HH Club, and Kaitlyn is a member of the Fulton Lucky Clovers 4-H Club.
Paul is 16 and will a senior this fall at Heritage Christian Academy He has been a 4-H member for 10 years, showing Beef steers, dairy feeder claves, poultry, goats, and his favorite project, swine. Paul has received several award trips over his 4-H career including the Citizen Washington Focus, the Chicago Trip, and also has been a recipient of the I Dare You award. Paul’s parents are Carmen and Scott Bartholomew, Scotts.
Kaitlyn is 17 and will be a senior this fall at Vicksburg High School, with future plans to attend Chic University for Cosmetology. She has been a 4-H member for 6 years, showing horses and her favorite project, photography. Kaitlyn’s biggest achievement was winning the state ribbon for a black and white photo last year, which she will be sending to Detroit this July to compete at the state fair. Kaitlyn has attended the 4-H Capitol experience and is president of her community club. Kaitlyn’s parents are Debra and Phil Barrett, Scotts.
Paul and Kaitlyn will be crowned at an official ceremony August 10th at 6:45 p.m. in front of the grandstand at the fairgrounds, just prior to the start of the demolition derby.
The King and Queen will be honored at a dinner on Thursday, July 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at the Food Dance Café if you would like a photo and interview.
