MASTER GARDENER CLASS

Kalamazoo, Mich.- Would you like to learn more about gardening? Are you interested in taking the Master Gardener class?

The next Master Gardener class will be held at The Kalamazoo Nature Center – Cooper’s Glen Auditorium, 7000 N. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 5:00-9:00 p.m. starting February 11 and continuing weekly through May 6, 2009.

The Michigan Master Gardener Volunteer program is a volunteer training program. No horticulture experience is necessary, just an interest in gardening. Participants agree to attend 12 classes and perform volunteer service annually.

Instructors share their expertise on these topics: Soils, Plant Science, Plant Health Care, Lawns, Small Fruit & Tree Fruit, Water Quality, Vegetables, Household Pests, Wildlife Management, Woody Ornamentals, Herbaceous Ornamentals, Composting, and Indoor Plants. The course fee is $250 (includes materials, supplies, soil test); several partial scholarships will be awarded.
