Department of Planning & Community Development
Schoolcraft Area US-131 Planning Committee
June 25, 2003 Meeting Notes
I. Introductions
The meeting came to order at 7:07 p.m. Mr. Sych asked the attendees to introduce themselves to the group. The list of attendees is attached at the end of the document.
II. Meeting Orientation
Mr. Sych discussed the agenda, and the goal of discussing the second draft of the resolution of consensus.
III. Discussion of Draft Resolution
Based on comments from the May meeting, Mr. Sych prepared a second draft resolution endorsing a by-pass of Schoolcraft and presented it to those in attendance. Mr. Sych highlighted the changes to the resolution. There was discussion on whether the planning activities (last paragraph of the resolution) should be noted as "short-term and long-term" planning activities or "key" planning activities. It was finally agreed that "key" would be used since the reference to term may indicate to MDOT that there was no urgency by the community to proceed with planning for the by-pass. The remainder of the draft was determined to be acceptable.
IV. Next Steps
Mr. Sych indicated that he would come back with a final draft for consideration at the July 23 meeting.
V. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m. SAUPC will meet again on 23 July 2003 at 7:00 p.m., at the Village of Schoolcraft Hall.
