|08/01/2012 - Oshtemo - Traffic Stop Reveals Warrants, Qty of Marijuana, Cash
A traffic stop yielded over a pound of marijuana, cash, and an arrest on outstanding warrants.
A Deputy from our office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle around 12:22 am on Wednesday morning in Oshtemo Township along Drake Rd near W KL Ave. The Deputy was stopping the vehicle for having an expired registration plate.
Upon making contact with the driver, the Deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. When asked about the odor a male passenger denied there was marijuana in the car. The female driver and rear seat passenger, when asked about the smell, turned over to the Deputy a large grocery bag containing over a pound of marijuana. A separate vehicle search also recovered 360.00 in cash.
The vehicle and money were forfeited and the female passenger, a 20 year old resident of Kalamazoo, was arrested for the drugs and two outstanding warrants. The driver and male passenger are not being charged in this case and were released from the scene.
