08/02/2012 - Vicksburg - Victim in Indian Lake Drowning Recovered
Following his apparent drowning, a Vicksburg man's body was recovered from Indian Lake in Vicksburg after a search lasting several days.
At approximately 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office Marine Division recovered the body of the drowning victim from Indian Lake.
The man is identified as ANTHONY FRANCIS ROEMER, a 42 yrs old resident of Indian Lake. The investigation indicates that ROEMER went swimming at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. He was reported missing several hours later by his family and the Sheriff's Office was contacted.
The Marine Division and the Kalamazoo County Water Recovery Team spent Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday searching the waters for ROEMER. He was discovered this morning about 12 feet from shore in 12 feet of water. His recovery location was about 90 yards from his dock. The search was hampered by heavy weeds and near zero visibility.
ROEMER was married with three young children. An autopsy is planned. The family has asked for privacy at this time.
