WHEN AND WHERE IS THE SUMMIT?
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 9am-3pm at the Kalamazoo Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Kalamazoo.
WHAT IS THE SUMMIT ABOUT AND WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TYPES OF SEMINARS ON EMERGENCY PREPARDNESS AND H1N1 PLANNING?
- LEARN AND APPLY - The summit is a day long workshop with an internationally recognized expert in the field of emergency management and continuity planning to both learn about preparedness planning and actually go through a tabletop exercise where you can apply the knowledge learned.
- GLOBAL INFORMATION, LOCAL APPLICATION - Attendees will come away with skills to help them explore their organization's resiliency to continue with day to day operations through the development of personal emergency plans, should the H1N1 virus or other pandemic come through our community. This unique format will also allow you to better understand how Kalamazoo County businesses, non-profits, schools and government agencies would work through a county-wide pandemic emergency.
- JUMPSTART YOUR PLANNING - Both information received during the session and a post-meeting summary that will be provided via email to all participants will aid your organization in their resiliency planning.
WHO ARE THE SPEAKERS?
In addition to a local update on the county's preparedness for H1N1 and pandemic planning, we are very privileged to have our keynote speaker and exercise facilitator, Regina Phelps, CEM, RN, BSN, MPA. Regina is an internationally recognized expert in the field of emergency management and continuity planning and began championing the need for pandemic planning five years before the media blitz on the possible avian flu pandemic. Regina has over 27 years experience in the field and is the founder of EMS Solutions, Inc. www.ems-solutionsinc.com
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This summit is targeted to Kalamazoo County area businesses, not-for-profit organizations, healthcare providers, first responders, faith based communities and schools in the KRESA school district.
WHAT IS THE COST TO ATTEND?
This event is sponsored by the Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services so there is NO cost to attend this summit - simply an investment of your time and participation for the day! All needed supplies, including lunch, will be provided!
HOW MANY PEOPLE FROM OUR ORGANIZATION CAN ATTEND?
Our objective is to have representation from as many organizations in Kalamazoo County as possible. While you may sign-up several people from your organization, we will likely be limiting attendance to 2 people per organization. The summit is limited to the first 250 people to sign up, thus we could have representation by 125 organizations in our county! However, additional people from your organization that you sign up will be on a stand-by list and would be informed on October 9th if space is available.
