Owner Surrender

Kalamazoo County Animal Services does allow the intake of surrendered pets as space allows. If the Animal Services Facility is at capacity, you will need to wait for an intake appointment to become available or seek alternative arrangements. We encourage you to exhaust all other means of rehoming your pets prior to submitting a surrender request with KCASE.

Requests for surrender need to be submitted through our online surrender process or filled out physically at the counter. Once your request is received, it will be reviewed, and a notification of intake time and date will be relayed when space becomes available. The online request for surrender can be found here: Owner Surrender Form.

Fees

We do charge $5.00 for small animals, $20.00 for cats and $30.00 for dogs.
*Proof of Kalamazoo County residency required.

Advisory Note

Upon physical surrender, ownership is immediately transferred to Kalamazoo County Animal Services & Enforcement and all ownership rights to the surrendered pet will be forfeited. Owner surrendered animals could be:

  • Adopted
  • Transferred to a rescue group/shelter
  • Humanely Euthanized

Payment Methods
