Amanda Morse, Deputy County Administrator Internal ServicesRSS
In my junior year of high school, I joined the Education for Employment program at Kalamazoo RESA. Education for Employment is a program which allows students to get a jump start on a career and complete some post-secondary education through classroom instruction and practical work experience. Through this program, I was placed into the Finance Department of Kalamazoo County Government, where I gained valuable knowledge and a love for working with numbers. In 1998, I became a full-time County employee in an Accounts Payable position within the Finance Department. With the assistance of the County’s tuition reimbursement program, I was able to work full-time and continue my education ultimately obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Kalamazoo County Government offers its employees many advancement opportunities. Since joining the County, I have been fortunate enough to continually progress to higher positions within our organization. In 2017, I was hired as the Deputy County Administrator of Internal Services. In this role, I assist the County Administrator in mobilizing teams, preparing and executing the County's business strategy, providing central management and leadership, and ensure the our organization continues to pursue extraordinary governance. More specifically, I oversee the Buildings & Grounds, Finance, Information Technology and Equalization Departments. A large focus of my role is assisting the County Administrator/Controller with the development of the general operating budget and continuously improving the financial viability of County operations.
The best aspect of working within Kalamazoo County Government is the employees. Throughout my career at Kalamazoo County Government, I have been fortunate to work with many dedicated public servants who worked diligently every day to provide excellent program and services for the residents of Kalamazoo County. Our employees are vital to the success of Kalamazoo County Government as they bring positive energy, solution-oriented ideas and a passion for the work they do each and every day. I look forward to continuing to work with our exceptional employees to pursue extraordinary governance at Kalamazoo County Government.
