Board of Commissioners

The Board of Commissioners is the legislative policy making branch of Kalamazoo County Government. The Board of Commissioners meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month – unless the meeting date falls on a holiday, in which case they will meet the following Wednesday. The Committee of the Whole meeting starts at 4 p.m. with the Regular Board meeting following at 7 p.m.

The Board is responsible to the citizens for development and administration of policies and the annual budget. The Board has nine members who are elected to office for a term of two years from districts selected according to population. They are assisted by a number of citizen advisory boards and commissions. This office can provide information regarding meeting dates, agenda items, and supply applications for the various advisory boards and commissions.
