Recording Fees

• $30.00 per document - MCL 600.2567(a)
• Any document which assigns or discharges more than 1 instrument, $3.00 shall be added for each additional instrument so assigned or discharged - MCL 600.2567(b)

Copy and Search Fees

• $1.00 per page - MCL 600.2567(c)
• $5.00 a document for certification - MCL 600.2567(d)
• $5.00 Plats of Record
• $5.00 per search - MCL 600.2567(e)

Tax Fees (Please make checks payable to the appropriate Treasurer)

• A Tax Certificate must be obtained from the County Treasurer's Office prior to recording any of the following (MCLA 211.135):
  • Warranty Deed
  • A deed which contains covenant warranty
  • Land Contract
  • Assignment of Land Contract with warranty clause
  • Master Deed
  • Amended Master Deed adding property to the Condo

Fee for tax certificate, up to 20 Tax ID Numbers, per document = $5.00

Each additional description = $.20

Properties located within the City of Kalamazoo must obtain an additional city tax certificate before receiving a tax certificate from the County Treasurer. The Kalamazoo City Treasurer's office handles this function. Contact them at Kalamazoo City Hall, 241 W South St, Kalamazoo MI 49007, or by phone at 269-337-8036. The fee for a city tax certificate is $10.00.

• Transfer Tax is calculated upon the sales price indicated on the deed; the sales price is rounded up to the next nearest $500 dollar increment.  (A house sold for $100,000.01 will use $100,500 for the sales price.)
  • County Transfer Tax Fee:  $1.10 per thousand dollar transaction
  • State Transfer Tax Fee: $7.50 per thousand dollar transaction
