Board of County Canvassers

The County Board of Canvassers are responsible for canvassing the votes cast within the county they serve. Canvassers are responsible for certification of election returns for all national, state and local offices which are contained entirely within the county they serve. The Board members are also responsible for inspecting the county’s ballot containers every four years and conducting recounts for all units of government in the County. Administration is provided by the Office of the County Clerk.


The Board of Canvassers is comprised of two Democrats and two Republicans, appointed by the County Board of Commissioners, according to State law, to staggered four-year terms.
