Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Community Advisory Committee

The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners maintains several advisory boards and commissions that make recommendations to the County Board regarding specific interest areas. All Committee appointments are on a volunteer basis with no monetary reimbursement, unless specifically noted.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Community Advisory Committee

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Community Advisory Committee was created by the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners. The purpose of this committee is to discuss and propose strategies and best practices to discourage and prevent discriminatory practices within the County and the community we serve and to sustain a welcoming and enriching environment within Kalamazoo County Government. 

The Committee will be requested to examine the County’s (internal organization and/or external community interactions) policies, practices, and procedures and May coordinate with staff, the Courts, and/or Elected Officials to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. The 9-member committee will reflect the diverse community of Kalamazoo County Appointments are made for three-year terms of office. Meeting dates, time, and location are posted on the County’s Public Meeting Notice page.
