Older Adult Services Division

Area Agencies on Aging are a national network of non-profit agencies created by the federal government under the Older Americans Act (OAA).  AAA provides services, education, outreach, and advocacy to vulnerable adults and their caregivers. Established in 1965, the OAA is the federal initiative supporting older adults living at home with assistance through comprehensive services.

Michigan is home to sixteen Area Agency on Aging (AAA) organizations that serve 83 counties.  Federal, state, and local governance work together to enhance the quality of life for senior living independently.

Kalamazoo County’s AAA is housed in the Kalamazoo County Government under the Older Adult Services Division.  Programming assists older adults and their caregivers access services, participate in health education classes, provide support for individuals living at home independently, advocacy, elder abuse prevention, and more.

This non-profit programming is supported through local, state, and federal funding. Quality standards are critical to successful, safe, and effective services.  AAA proudly follows the quality standards through Michigan Department of Health & Human Services Aging & Adult Services Agency (AASA).
