Senior Expo

Dear past Senior Expo Exhibitor & Attendees:

To say the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed all aspects of our community is an understatement.  As we have navigated the challenges of serving the older adults within the confines of the pandemic, we have had to significantly alter service delivery to safeguard the older adults in our nation. Inviting over 120 exhibitors to mingle with over 1500 guests is not a responsible, safe, or ethical decision. Given the current guidelines and restrictions, your safety and the safety of our attendees is our top priority; we will not be hosting the 2020 Senior Expo this fall. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of the older adults we serve, and the exhibitors who may provide services to them, we have reviewed alternative options and may potentially host smaller events to increase access to the flu vaccine in October. Thank you for your support of the Senior Expo in years past. We hope to resume the event in 2021.

Please follow our social media or contact us for future efforts.

Celebrate Elderhood

Celebrate Elderhood

Celebrate Elderhood is an initiative that brings attention to the issues of aging, challenging misconceptions and showcasing how this stage of the lifecycle enriches individuals, families and the community. The goal is to set a community standard where elders and the people and organizations that make up the network of service providers are valued, respected, and supported. With older adults being the fastest growing segment of our county and country, having a community that is good to grow up and grow old in should be important to everyone.

Celebrate Elderhood is coordinated by the Area Agency on Aging IIIA and its Older Adult Services Advisory Council, with the assistance of community volunteers. Kalamazoo County Advocates for Senior Issues, a non-profit organization, is the fiduciary.

The Centenarian Luncheon is an annual event held to honor Kalamazoo citizens 100 years old or older. For more information email or call 269-373-5147.
