GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to maintain the grounds and buildings of county facilities and parks. Performs preventative maintenance tasks, completes equipment inspections and repairs, and places orders to replenish inventory. Maintains maintenance logs and records. Installs and repairs facility infrastructures. Performs pesticide and fertilizer application.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains, repairs, and improves Parks & Expo Center equipment; performs the full range of preventative maintenance tasks and completes equipment inspections.
- Places orders and maintains inventory, including parts and supplies.
- Serves as liaison for external vendors and maintains maintenance logs and records.
- Maintains and operates Parks & Expo Center equipment, including a fleet of tractors, loaders, commercial lawnmowers, utility vehicles, snowplows, trailers, and small engine lawn maintenance equipment.
- Maintains, repairs, and improves Park & Expo Center facilities; performs plumbing, electrical, and HVAC diagnostics, repair, and construction; maintains maintenance logs and records.
- Installs doors, windows, roofing, siding, trim, etc.; constructs gatehouses and small buildings; remodels restrooms and existing buildings.
- Pours concrete slabs, walkways, and posts; installs flooring and ceiling frames walls; installs drywall and paints.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- 6 months + training beyond High School
- 1 to 3 years of related work experience in equipment operation, repair, and general construction.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators License must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
- Michigan DOT Medical Examiners Certificate, obtained post-employment.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to assist the Parks Service Manager in ensuring customer service standards are being met at all park properties. Assists in overseeing the seasonal staffing of the parks and day-to-day service operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with daily operations of the park facilities and services including 3 swimming beaches, a soccer complex with 20 fields, group picnic areas, campgrounds, 2 dog parks, a wide variety of park special events, a historic mill, and over 1500 acres of public recreation parkland.
- Assists with gatehouse operations, and fee collection. Prepares record receipts and processes daily fee reports and bank deposits. Ensures compliance with cash handling policies and assists in the management of operational budgets.
- Enforces departmental rules and policies to ensure compliance, consistency, and fairness are provided to all park customers.
- Oversees seasonal employee schedules and daily tasks for assigned parks. Performs seasonal training following established guidelines. Acts as on-duty manager for all seasonal employees in the system during assigned shifts.
- Oversees daily operations and reservations for two county park campgrounds and 24 group picnic facilities.
- Ensures that well-established customer service standards are being met at parks.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Management, Law Enforcement, Natural Resources, or a related field
- Less than 1-year related work experience in recreation management, law enforcement, customer service, natural resources management, or forestry
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
