Public Health Preparedness

Kalamazoo County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program works to protect our community and its residents through public health prevention, response, and rapid recovery as it relates to public health emergencies. This is accomplished through:

  • Preparedness Planning and Readiness Assessment
  • Surveillance and Epidemiology Capacity
  • Communications and Information Technology
  • Communicating Health Risks and Health Information Dissemination
  • Education and Training

The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program is here to assist County residents and businesses in preparing for a potential natural disaster, bioterrorism event or disease outbreak.

Through an all-hazard planning approach, the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program maintains networks of partners locally, regionally and state-wide as well as comprehensive plans for countywide emergency and disaster response. Both ensure preparedness needs are met and disaster response and recovery are supported in Kalamazoo County.
