Silent Observer
The Kalamazoo County Silent Observer program began in 1974 and operates as an independent organization. The concept has developed into a combination of efforts by local media, businesses, civic and social clubs, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Donations of airtime, newspaper space, and reward monies is welcomed and appreciated, as all are important elements in the programs effectiveness.
Mission Statement
The Silent Observer program is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated volunteer community representatives. The Silent Observer program provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increase arrests in our community.
By guaranteeing a caller`s anonymity, Silent Observer allows the caller to give information in a positive atmosphere without fear of retribution. By offering cash rewards for information leading to indictment or arrests, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.
Please visit the Silent Observer website for more information, including descriptions of missing persons, wanted suspects, and unsolved cases, or call 269-343-2100.
