Victim Services

What is Victim Services?

Victim Services is a group of trained volunteers dedicated to help victims and survivors work through a crisis or crime against them. Victim Services Volunteers free up law enforcement and emergency personnel to do their job without leaving the victim or victim’s family forgotten, thus avoiding further victimization.

Our purpose is to assist persons that have experienced trauma. The unit will be designed to comfort and help victims and survivors at the scene and provide immediate, short term crisis intervention and/or grief support. Members of the unit will serve as a go between for victims and survivors, their families, and scene officials and emergency service providers.

Anyone interested in volunteering as a KCSO VSU volunteer should fill out the VSU volunteer application and submit it to Chief Deputy Michelle M. Greenlee. Feel free to attach additional pages if the space provided is not enough.
