Mary has worked in the financial services field for over 30 years. She began her career in banking in trust accounting department and advanced to the brokerage service area. In 2001 she was elected to the Kalamazoo City Commission where she served until her appointment to the Kalamazoo County Treasurer in 2007.
A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo County, Mary was born in Kalamazoo Township and moved to Texas Township as a young girl when her parents with 6 young girls in tow, decided to build a new house and to start a farm. Soon after the move, Mary was enrolled in 4-H where she raised livestock was part of the swine exhibit at the Kalamazoo County Fair. Life on the farm taught Mary the value of hard work. Mary graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School and then continued her studies at Western Michigan University, completing a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 1989.
Mary is very active in the community and has served on the boards of the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission Advisory Board, Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), The Kalamazoo County Land Bank Authority, the Plat Board, The Election Commission, The Other Post Employments Benefits Committee and the Retirement Investment Committee.
Chief Deputy Treasurer
Megan is a proud graduate of Western Michigan University and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Finance. Before becoming the Chief Deputy, she worked for ten years in financial services and information systems.
Megan is passionate about the community, and serves on the board of the Edison Neighborhood Association, and the City of Kalamazoo’s Community Development Act Advisory Committee.
