STI & Sexual Health Toolkit
A Community’s Guide to Sexually Transmitted Infections and Comprehensive Sexual Health
Kalamazoo County ranks in the top 5 for highest rates for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis in the State of Michigan. A reduction in STI rates will only be achieved through a community wide public health initiative.
This tool kit is the groundwork for this initiative. It is designed to be a consistent and comprehensive plan for action against the increasing rates of STIs county-wide.
Sexual and reproductive health issues are critical components to the general health and well-being of patients seen in all healthcare settings. However, the ability to efficiently and comprehensively provide services for STIs may be limited due to time constraints and providers' lack of comfort in doing so.
The KCHCS STD Clinic (269-373-5203) accepts referrals for appointments, walk-ins, and phone consultations with a STI Nurse five (5) days per week. You can use the CDC page to find testing locations or for more information about the Kalamazoo County HCS STI clinic, click here.
Community Outreach
Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services maintains a team of dedicated educators, clinicians, and communicable disease staff who regularly conduct community presentations on STI prevention and testing education. Presentations can be customized to meet the needs of your group. If you or your organization are interested in hosting a presentation on STIs and/or sexual health, please call (269) 373-5207 or email us.
